As long as I continue to make everything look pretty and shiny on the outside. I didn't care how miserable and ugly I felt on the inside. I realized that I deserved a better me so I can be the wife and the mom that I really wanted to be. So at Caron, the family program is amazing. They gave me permission to have these hard conversations with him.

Common Questions

Is Caron the right place for my loved one?

The average length of stay in our residential or inpatient rehabilitation can vary depending on you or your loved one’s physical and psychological needs, the severity of the addiction, any mental or physical health conditions, and the treatment program. It can range from approximately four weeks to several months.

Licensures differ by state. Our facilities in Florida, Caron Renaissance and Caron Ocean Drive, are state licensed (AHCA and DCF) to treat a primary diagnosis in mental health and/or substance use disorder. At Caron Pennsylvania, we are licensed to treat a primary diagnosis of substance use disorder and can treat mental health as a secondary diagnosis. Click here to learn more.

If you or your loved one is struggling with a mental health issue in addition to drugs and alcohol, please reach out to us. Our admissions team is happy to help answer any questions you may have or connect you with our treatment team.

The admissions process begins with a telephone assessment during which we will discuss your medical and mental health needs and concerns. This will help us determine which of our programs will best fit your needs. This information is also helpful to our Caron Admissions Screening Team. This team coordinates with our medical, clinical and mental health professionals on each case to determine if we are able to meet your needs and how we can accommodate your care.

Another consideration when discussing existing medical and mental health diagnoses is, where are you with this diagnosis? Are you stabilized and currently under medical care for this diagnosis? Are you compliant with prescribed medications?

The Caron Admissions Screening Team will communicate with your current healthcare providers to develop a plan for your recovery care.

If you and your loved one is struggling with a medical issue alongside their addiction, please reach out to us. Our admissions team is happy to help answer any questions you may have or connect you with our medical staff.

Detoxing and the accompanying withdrawal symptoms are different from one person to the next - what works for one person may not work for someone else. The symptoms depend on what substances were used, how often they were used, the time and amount of last use, and other overall health factors.

Safely navigating the detox process is a crucial first step in recovery. That’s why it’s so important to be in a healthcare environment with professionals and credentialed doctors who can assist every step of the way. The experienced staff teams at Caron are proficient at managing the medical complexities of detoxing from alcohol and drug use as well as related conditions like chronic pain, diabetes, heart disease, and other co-occurring disorders. We have two on-campus medical centers that provide detox and stabilization services, but if more specialized care is needed, you or your loved one may be referred to trusted outside providers who have experience working with patients with substance use disorder.

To learn more about our detox approach, please reach out to our admissions team to answer any questions you may have.

Because treatment is personalized for our patients, we do not have a set fee. Some of the variables in the cost of treatment include the specific treatment program that is right for you or your loved one and any additional services or support needed or chosen.

We have established unique agreements with our insurance partners in Pennsylvania that allow our medical and clinical experts to make healthcare decisions (not the insurance companies) in the best interest of our patients. This means that upon admission, patients can stay for the medically appropriate length of time they need for treatment (average 1 month), rather than being evaluated weekly for coverage, for the cost outlined by their insurance benefits, such as a deductible. Our model eliminates weekly/multiple utilization reviews throughout the course of treatment and the uncertainty of continued coverage.

We are in-network with many providers including, but not limited to Aetna, Amerihealth, Capital Blue Cross, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Quest, Independence Blue Cross, UPMC. Don't see your provider? Contact us and we'll confirm your coverage or help you with options.

Unfortunately, Caron Florida does not accept any state funding and is strictly private pay.

Financial assistance is available through a limited number of scholarships for individuals who qualify through an application process. Also, there are various options available to pay for treatment at Caron. Click here to learn more.

When you call Caron, you will meet and speak with one of our expert admissions specialists. The specialist is your guide and source of all the information you need about how admissions work.

Admissions specialists work closely with you, your loved ones, your therapist, and Caron’s clinical and medical teams to determine the level of care you (or your loved one) need and whether Caron can meet those needs.

The process begins with an evaluation, which may include questions about:

  • Precipitating events
  • Mental health history
  • Substance use and medical history
  • Family structure/dynamics and issues
  • Legal history
  • Career and education
  • Your current therapist and physicians that you are seeing
  • Contact information

Once you or your loved one has agreed to treatment, it's time to set an admission date. Because we understand the need for urgency, we can work with you to get the process done quickly. That includes admission to our onsite detox units at Caron Florida or Caron Pennsylvania on short notice if needed. The admissions process will vary depending on the program that is right for you.
