Cory Trevena is a devoted professional with extensive experience in behavioral health and education. As the senior director of education alliance, Cory is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission through the effective implementation of prevention services. Focusing on financial success and strategic planning, Cory has successfully overseen growth and development within the department.
Cory’s journey with Caron began in 2005 as a part-time student assistance specialist. She is committed to supporting the health and well-being of young people and their families, understanding the challenges that many youth face in today’s society. Cory extends her commitment to adults, helping them to enhance their skills in navigating personal and professional roles to foster growth and success.
Beyond her role at Caron, Cory is actively involved in community leadership. She currently serves on the board of directors at Next Step Berks, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Cory is also co-chair for the Prevention Education Sub-Committee of SOS Berks, Berks County’s Opioid Coalition. In addition, she is a proud class of 2020 alumni of Leadership Berks, where she served as the project team leader for the Berks Alliance Project. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor of psychology at East Coast Polytechnic Institute.
Before joining Caron, Cory’s professional background included roles as a therapeutic staff support, behavior specialist consultant, and private consultant, providing early intervention services for young children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
Cory has showcased her expertise in behavioral health at various regional and national conferences, bringing a dedicated and compassionate approach to fostering positive change in the lives of individuals and communities alike.
Cory obtained a Ph.D. in Psychology with a concentration in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Liberty University, Lynchburg. Her research focused on the relationship between motivation and an individual’s sense of meaning in life. She received a Master of Arts in General Psychology from the University of North Florida, Jacksonville, where she focused her research on gender role stereotypes and the perception of physical abuse. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Penn State University, State College. She is certified as a prevention specialist by the Pennsylvania Certification Board. She previously held the accreditation of lead trainer for the Pennsylvania Network of Student Assistance Services (PNSAS).
