David DeJesus
MSW, RCSWI
Florida
In his role as family therapist for Caron Florida’s Renaissance Program, David DeJesus works with families to help them gain insight into their family system and then guides them through the process of restoring stability, health, and strength to that system.
David provides family therapy sessions as well as individual therapy for the patient and helps facilitate Renaissance’s Family Workshop. He also keeps family members up to date on how their loved one is doing. He is inspired by the work patients and family members do to learn about themselves and their relationships in order to grow from that knowledge and form stronger bonds.
Before taking on his current role in 2023, David was an intern at Renaissance for nine months, facilitating group therapy and participating in clinical rounds. That experience at Caron informs and guides the work he does now.
His previous experience as a primary therapist at another treatment center and as a counselor-in-residence at Florida Atlantic University was excellent preparation for working with Renaissance patients and their families. David has also been a counselor in the behavioral health field and an assistant to students with special needs. These roles contributed to his understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to behavioral and addiction treatment.
David is a registered clinical social worker intern with a Master of Social Work from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida, and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from The College of New Jersey, Ewing, New Jersey.
