Sam Peterson is the regional resource director for Washington, D.C., and Virginia, assisting individuals and family members in their quest to get treatment.
He provides families, referents, health care providers, and others with resources, information, and education about substance use disorder and behavioral health treatment options. As a certified peer recovery specialist and someone who is in recovery, Sam has both professional and personal experience that he puts to use to help individuals move toward a healthy, rewarding life in recovery.
Prior to taking on this position in 2023, Sam was an outreach director for a national behavioral health company. Before that, he was a clinical associate with Encore, a Caron/MARC outpatient treatment center in Northern Virginia. He has 20 years of experience as an executive recruiter in the financial and business fields, reaching out to companies and individuals and building relationships. He draws on that experience in his current work, using his extensive listening and networking skills to find resources and information for those who need it.
He has a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut.
