During Seán’s Lavelle's tenure, he oversaw the completion of the “Open the Door” campaign that raised over $150 million. This comprehensive campaign supported scholarships to increase access to care and included building The Keele Center in Florida, the Carole and Ray Neag Medical Center, and the Fran and Doug Tieman Center for Research, both in Pennsylvania. He has more than 22 years of experience with development and fundraising for nonprofit organizations driven by an overarching commitment to advancing mission.
Seán joined Caron Treatment Centers in 2015 as the regional vice president for the greater Philadelphia market. He was responsible for overall operations and reach in the tri-state area, including board management and development, community outreach, business development, alumni and parent support, and strategic partnership and fundraising.
Before coming to Caron, he served as the vice president of development for the Gesu School in Philadelphia from 2010 to 2015 where he launched and successfully completed the school’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign. Prior to his work at the Gesu School, Seán served as the director of corporate and foundation relations for Gwynedd-Mercy University during the “Futures Campaign” that raised over $35 million. From 2002 to 2007, he served as a program coordinator at La Salle University where he developed a fundraising program focused on local and international community service outreach and immersion programs.
Seán also lived and worked in Mexico for nearly two years as a program coordinator for Los Niños, a bi-national, nonprofit organization. He helped to facilitate service immersion programs and partnerships with local schools and community centers in and around Tijuana.
He earned his Bachelor of Science from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and his Master of Arts from La Salle University, also in Philadelphia. Seán also earned a certificate in nonprofit fundraising from La Salle University’s Nonprofit Center as well as a certificate in grant writing from the University of Pennsylvania’s Grants Institute.
