Accessibility Statement
Statement of Accessibility
Caron Treatment Centers is committed to providing an equal and quality experience for everyone. We're constantly working towards improving the accessibility of our website to ensure we provide equal access to individuals with special needs including those with visual, hearing, cognitive, and motor impairments.
Wherever possible, we strive to conform to level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines provide a foundation for how to make web content more accessible for people with various disabilities. We believe that conformance with these guidelines will help make the web more user friendly for everyone.
Known Exceptions
While we put our best effort into meeting the success criteria outlined in the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines mentioned above, we recognize that at this time, there are sections of our site that are not accessible or may be difficult to navigate, particularly for screen reader users.
Some of these sections are also powered by third party plugins that we recognize are not at the level of accessibility for which we strive. These sections include:
- Header’s Main Navigation
- Currently being flagged for an unsemantic child element within it’s <ul>. This was done to better accommodate the navigation’s structure as it scales down to mobile.
- Video Components
- Currently being flagged for caption or iframe related issues. As we are using Youtube embeds for video content, we have limited control over preventing compliance issues related to videos sitewide
- Contrast
- There are several components which are being flagged for color contrast issues stemming from the use of background video, imagery, or altered opacity. These have been noted and are in most cases, false positives. These include:
- Skip to Content Button (Button is invisible until tabbed and focused. This is intentional, but in some cases will flag as a contrast error in accessibility tests IE axe)
- Home Hero (Text over Video)
- Category Tags within card Component (Text over altered opacity background color and imagery)
- There are several components which are being flagged for color contrast issues stemming from the use of background video, imagery, or altered opacity. These have been noted and are in most cases, false positives. These include:
We are actively working on improving the experience in these and other impacted areas, either by working directly with vendors or seeking out more accessible alternatives. Please be aware that our efforts to remediate any issues with these sections is ongoing.
