Caron Treatment Centers Opens New Location in Atlanta

Caron Atlanta, Formerly Caron Solutions, Provides Substance Use/Addiction Assessment, Outpatient and Recovery Services at New Atlanta Location

Atlanta, GA – May 22, 2018 Caron Treatment Centers, a leading and nationally recognized not-for-profit provider of addiction treatment and behavioral health services, is pleased to announce the opening of Caron Atlanta, which offers a wide range of substance use (addiction) assessment, outpatient and recovery services. Formerly operating under the name Caron Solutions, Caron Atlanta’s new location is 1200 Ashwood Parkway, STE 125, Dunwoody, GA 30338.

“Addiction is an epidemic in America,” said Doug Tieman, Caron’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Tragically, Georgia is not immune – with the Georgia Department of Public Health reporting that the state is 11th in the country for prescription opioid overdose deaths. Caron has developed meaningful relationships in the Atlanta community over the course of many years. We are committed to continuing to help individuals and families achieve recovery through disease management.”

As part of the move, Caron Atlanta has expanded services for teens, young adults, adults and their families. Programming includes: Comprehensive Drug and Alcohol Assessment, Patient-Centered Individual Counseling, Group Counseling, Family Counseling, Teen Intervene Program, Primary Outpatient Group for Young Adults, Intensive Outpatient for Teens and Young Adults and an Early Recovery Aftercare Group.

Dr. Susan Blank, MD, FAPA, FASAM, FABAM, FAAARM, MRO, is the Medical Director at Caron Atlanta. Dr. Blank was previously Caron’s Chief Medical Officer at its Pennsylvania center from 2007 to 2008. She is the President of the Georgia Society of Addiction Medicine and helms the Atlanta Healing Center LLC and the Atlanta Wellness Center LLC. She also trains healthcare professionals about best practices in addiction treatment and teaches physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants how to prescribe buprenorphine, a medication that is frequently used in the treatment of opioid use disorder.

Dean Monteleone, MS, LPC, CAADC, CCDP, NCC, Clinical Director, will oversee clinical services at the facility. Over the course of his career, he has worked directly with adults, teens and families affected by addiction, mental health issues and intellectual developmental disabilities.

Caron’s Student Assistance Program (SAP) works with nearly 70 sites in the Greater Atlanta region including public middle and high schools, private elementary, middle and high schools, as well as youth service organizations such as Communities in Schools, 4-H, Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Center Point.

Caron Atlanta also offers free, bi-weekly Parent Support meetings in two convenient locations. The groups are led by parents of children struggling with a substance use disorder or in recovery and are open to the public. The not-for-profit also hosts free programs for the community, featuring leading experts on prevention, treatment and recovery.

At a national level, Caron is committed to raising awareness about addiction as a chronic disease and the rights of all individuals and families to have access to quality treatment. In fact, Tieman testified before Congress in December - calling for mandated ethics and standards in the treatment sector. In addition to prevention efforts, Caron also continues to fund addiction and related research with leading organizations.
