Caron Treatment Centers Honors Mike McGlinn at 32nd Annual Richard J. Caron Award of Excellence Dinner
John Gallen, President, and Owner of Ethosource, will be honored with the 2022 Partner in Recovery Award
Wernersville, PA – May 4, 2022 - Caron Treatment Centers, a leading, internationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to addiction and behavioral healthcare treatment, research, prevention, and addiction medicine education, announced that more than 700 people will gather at 5:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree in Reading to celebrate Mike McGlinn’s long-standing volunteer commitment to Caron as he receives the 32nd Annual Richard J. Caron Award of Excellence.
Caron presents the Richard J. Caron Award of Excellence annually to an individual or couple who, in the estimation of the Caron Board of Trustees, demonstrates the same spirit of caring and compassion exemplified by Caron’s founders Dick and Catherine Caron. McGlinn joined Caron’s Board in 1987, he served as chairperson from 2008-2012, and he has provided invaluable leadership as chair of numerous committees throughout the past 35 years.
“Today, we’re thrilled to honor Mike for his invaluable commitment to helping family’s access lifesaving treatment and recovery,” said Brad Sorte, Caron’s President, and CEO. “It’s a testament to Mike’s character that as this year’s distinguished honoree, his wish is to use the event as an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the ‘The People of Caron,’ the employees who go above and beyond to help recovery happen every day. “
During McGlinn’s tenure as Chairman of the Caron Board of Trustees from 2008 to 2012, Caron added essential programs, including the Young Adult Treatment Program and Florida’s Executive Program at Ocean Drive. Under McGlinn’s leadership, Caron also saw significant growth, including the expansion of Caron’s footprint in the Greater Washington D.C. region, the Grandview building and the Ocean Drive residences in Florida. During his time as a Trustee, he has served as Chairman of the Executive Committee, the Finance Committee and the Audit Committee and has been a member of the Investment Committee, Marketing Committee, and the Treatment Committee.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, he also has an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business and was employed by Ernst & Young as a Senior Accountant and CPA. He succeeded his uncle, Terry McGlinn, founder of McGlinn Capital Management, as the Chairman and CEO for 18 years until his recent retirement.
Ethosource, along with President and Owner John Gallen Jr., will also be honored with the 2022 Partner in Recovery Award for their generous and ongoing support of Caron for more than 20 years. John currently serves as a member of Caron’s Board of Trustees.
Last year Caron provided more than $8 million in financial assistance to families, including $1 million dollars to Berks County and the Central PA region. In 2021, more than 3,500 families from local communities received residential, outpatient and/or family treatment services from Caron.
The event’s Honorary Chairs are Linda Caron Denby, Doug Tieman and Ben Zintak. The Event Committee Co-Chairs are Kris Bashore, David Rotenberg, and Bill Thornton.
